Shock chlorine is used to raise the level of free chlorine to kill off contaminants such as Bacteria , Algae and Chloramines .

When adjusting your swimming pool chemistry it is advised to space out adding chemicals as they can work against each other so if possible give your swimming pool a couple of hours circulating before testing and adjust again.
